Seva

Since I’m participating in the Global Seva Challenge, it might help to explain what exactly seva is. It is a Sanskrit word that translates to “selfless service”. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, seva is “a service which is performed without any expectation of result or award for the person performing it.”

Seva is an expression of compassion, of the desire to uplift and assist people. [source] Since committing to the challenge in January, I have read quite a bit about human trafficking, the focus of this years' challenge, and with every statistic and story I read, my heart breaks just a little bit more. But it also inspires me to work that much harder and dedicate myself to this cause.

While I cannot empathize with any of the millions of women and children enslaved around the world, I can offer my sympathy and compassion. That is why I am working to raise $20,000. Because I truly want to uplift and assist people. I believe that every man, woman, and child on this planet should experience love every day and it’s my responsibility to do whatever I can to make that happen. If raising a boat load of cash is what will help, then that is what I will do.

It is my hope that through this challenge, I can inspire others to be the change.
